We have something exciting for you!

​

When I started Mum Squad in 2017 I was driven by a deep desire to help Mum's train safely and effectively after giving birth...

I saw there was a huge gap, really NOTHING available to women in this area.

​

However, I don't want to just work with new Mum's, I want to work with ALL Mum's because let's face it, we are ALL postnatal, no matter how old our kids are.

​

Having established UV in the pre and post natal space I have been thinking a lot about the "next phase" of a Mum's life...

What is it and more importantly how can I help them ?

The answer was fast and clear.

​

Create classes specifically designed for women 45 and over experiencing PERIMENOPAUSE or who have reached MENOPAUSE.

​

We held a fantastic talk with the wonderful Naturopath @rachelaldrige from 'In Nature's Hands' and it was incredibly eye opening for me.

​

My biggest takeaways were how important Strength Training is for peri/menopausal women, here's why...

​

Progesterone levels drop and oestrogen levels become erratic during peri menopause.

This can start to happen 8-10 years prior to menopause (usually in your 40's).

​

As a result you may start to experience symptoms, such as...

- Weight gain (especially around mid section)
- Hot flushes and heat intolerance.
- Sleep disturbances.
- Menstrual cycle changes.
- Mood changes, including depression, anxiety and irritability.

​

So where does UV come in to all of this ?

 

Here's how...

 

The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your metabolic rate....

The higher your metabolic rate the more energy/calories you burn every second of everyday (even when you're sleeping).

​

As estrogen levels drop so does your muscle mass and metabolism.

Hello mid-line weight gain.

​

Now you're probably wondering what's the solution to this midsection madness ?

​

In short it's very simple...

​

Lift Weights (strength training). Make It Challenging (go heavy). Ensure It's Safe (supervised).

​

In fact participating in a strength training program just 2 x per week has been shown to INCREASE your lean muscle mass and metabolism.

​

More good news...

​

It also decreases your risk of osteoporosis by increasing your bone density.

​

Consider 1 in 4 Aussies women will develop osteoporosis (that's HUGE!).

​

Exercise also helps with your MOOD and irritability.

​

Resistance or Strength training is critical for women in their 40's and beyond that's why we want to do specific classes that have a bigger emphasis on:

  • Strength Training,

  • Mobility/Stability including Core/Pelvic Floor and

  • Short yet intense cardio (because it's a wonderful stress relief!)

  • STRETCHING and even some guided meditation.

​

Session times are:

Mon/Wed/Fri 12pm-12:45pm (you are busy women, we can get this done in 45 minutes with NO short cuts!)
